Performance with artist book
A performer reads a board book “On the Table.” The rhythmic text documents the particularities of a 1990s Texas suburban subdivision: its couches, its casseroles, its daily cadences. As the empty pages are turned, drawings slide out. Yet, the performer continues their recitation nonplussed - the book’s contents internalized. The watercolor drawings transpose characters from nursery rhymes illustrated by Eloise Witkins in the 1930s into Dwell Magazine interiors from the 2008-2012.
